Philadelphia Open 2014

The 8th Annual Philadelphia Open will be held over the Easter week from April 16-20, 2014, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The event has 7 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1300 and Under 1000/Unrated.

The Open Section will be a 9-round event held over 5-days (April 16-20). GM and IM norms possible. Last year winner was GM Fidel Corrales Jimenez.

The event has a $80,000 prize fund, based on 500 entries, with $60,000 minimum guaranteed.

The U2200- U1000 sections are 7-round events with 4-day (April 17-20), 3-day (April 18-20) or 2-day (April 19-20) schedules to play in.

Open: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-700-600-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000.
$500 minimum prize to FIDE 2500/over foreign GMs who complete all games with no byes (limited to first 5 to enter).
Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800: each $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.
Under 1600: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300-300.
Under 1300: $2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-200-200-200.
Under 1000/Unr: $800-400-300-200-100, trophies to first 5, top U800, U600, U400, Unrated.
Unrated/Provisional Section: Open to unrated or under 1500 with less than 26 lifetime games rated. $2000-1000-600-400-300. Unrated allowed only in Under 1000/Unr or Unrated/Provisional sections.

The entry fees in the upper sections are ranging from 225 to 400 USD.
