Puerto Rico Women’s Championship 2022 concluded

The Puerto Rico Women’s Chess Championship 2022 took place from April 29 – May 1 at the University of Puerto Rico.

FM Danitza Vázquez Maccarini emerged as the winner of the five-round Swiss tournament that brought together nine participants.

Danitza turned in a dominating performance winning four straight games and securing the title with a round to spare. Despite forfeiting the last round game and tying for the first place with Natasha Morales Santos, Vazquez Maccarini became the Puerto Rico Women’s champion as the winner of their third-round direct encounter. 

With this achievement, Danitza earned the spot in the Puerto Rico Women’s National Team for the upcoming 44th World Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai.
