Radoslaw Wojtaszek winner of Vladimir Petrov Memorial 2013

Polish GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek grabbed the winner’s trophy at the Vladimir Petrov Memorial 2013 after edging Russian GM Vladimir Malakhov on tie-break. Both players finished with 10,5 points from 14 games.

Vassily Ivanchuk was in great position to fight for the top prize but the last round defeat against Sandipan Chanda pushed him down to the shared third place.

Vladimir Petrov Memorial 2013 is organized by the Latvian Chess Federation and Grandmaster Alexei Shirov with the aim to pay tribute to one of the brightest representatives of Latvian Chess ever who tragically died in Soviet camps during the Second World War.

The 14-round Swiss with the rapid time control 15min+6sec was held on 15-17 February at the Jurmala City museum in Jurmala, Latvia.
