Rilton Cup 2014

Rilton CupRilton Cup was initiated by a donation from Dr. Tore Rilton, and since 1985 the tournament is financially secured. The challenge prize, donated by SEB, is a Rilton-medal in genuine gold.

The venue of play is Clarion Hotel Stockholm, Ringvägen 98, Stockholm. Metro station Skanstull (green line).

The event is a 9-round FIDE-Swiss in Cup and Elo. 7-round FIDE-Swiss in 1800 and 1600.

Rilton Cup and Rilton Elo: the first round starts on 27th December. Personal registration before 1:30 p.m. All rounds, except the last one, start at 3 p.m. The last round starts at 12:00 on 5th January. No games will be played on 31st December. All four tournaments will be Elo-registered.

Time control: Cup & Elo: 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move one; 1800 & 1600: 90′ + 30″.

Registration: Please register and pay the entry fee no later than 16th December to Stockholm Chess Federation. The fee can be paid to our bank account in Nordea with IBAN number SE45 9500 0099 6042 0257 9589 and BIC-code NDEASESS.

When you register, the information should contain: name, address, date of birth, club, Elo rating, national rating, e-mail and phone number where you can be reached during the tournament. Late entry can be made in the playing venue before 12:00 with an extra fee of 100 SEK. The first 240 registered players are guaranteed participation. It is possible to book a room at Clarion Hotel Stockholm (www.clarionstockholm.com/hotell), but this should be done through Stockholm Chess Federation. Price per night, including breakfast, is 695 SEK for a single room, and 850 SEK for a double room.

The prizes in Rilton Cup will be awarded as follows: 20,000 – 15,000 – 12,000 – 10,000 – 8,000 – 6,000 – 5,000 – 4,000 – 3,000 – 3,000 SEK.
