Rodrigo Da Silva Borges took the winner’s trophy at the 3rd “Cidade de Nova Petropolis” Open that took place on 22nd-24th February at the Centro de Eventos de Nova Petrópolis in Brazil.
Da Silva grabbed the top prize of 1.000 Brazilian Rs. after obtaining 5/6 points and edging four players on tie-breaks. Serbian IM Dragan Stamenkovic arrived second after drawing his last round game against first seed IM Evandro Barbosa, who got the third place.
The tournament was a 6-round Swiss Open with a time control of 90 minutes for the whole game plus an increment of 30 seconds from the first move.
