Roman Shogdzhiev achieves IM norm in Baku

The Baku Open 2025 finished with a resounding victory of GM Alexander Indjic (final ranking / replay games)

10-year-old FM Roman Shogdzhiev continues making history – he scored an IM norm in Baku, finishing with 5,5/9 and 2500+ elo performance. The victory means extra 43 ELO points for Roman Shogdzhiev.

Roman Shogdzhiev became know to the wider audience at the Radnicki IM Tournament in Belgrade, where at only nine years, 10 months, and seven days, he became the youngest player in chess history to earn an IM norm, surpassing the previous record of IM Faustino Oro.
