Russian Junior Championships 2013

Vladislav Artemiev

The Russian Junior Chess Championships for men and women are taking place on 15th-28th April in Loo, right after the Russian Teams Chess Championship finished in the same location.

The age categories for boys and girls U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-21 are being played. The winner of each group will gain the right to represent Russia at the Junior World Chess Championship.

The time control used will be 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increments from move 1.

The participants are not allowed to agree to a draw before move 40.

As it is well-known, Russia is the country where more strong young players reside. So, the U-21 events for boys and girls are quite strong tournaments in their own right. Both championships are using the single round robin format with 10 players.

Muscovite IMs Vladimir Belous and Uri Eliseev are the first seeds in the male event. WGM Alina Kashlinskaya is the first seed among the girls.
