The US Chess Championship 2022 is taking place from 5-20 October at the Saint Louis Chess Club. Fourteen of the country’s strongest chess players battle for the national title and $60,000 in a classical round-robin event with Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian and Wesley So headlining the field which includes Hans Niemann as the 8th seed.
After defeating Christopher Yoo in the first round of the event, Niemann yesterday missed his chances to score another victory and emerge as the sole leader. His R2 game against Jeffery Xiong finished in a draw, but Niemann continued to co-lead with Samuel Sevian. Hans today meets with the 2018 US Chess Champion Sam Shankland. Follow the game live
