Sandro Mareco and Cristobal Henriquez Villagra qualify for FIDE World Cup

FIDE Zone 2.5 ChampionshipThe FIDE Zone 2.5 Championship was held from 27th April to 3rd May in Asuncion, Paraguay.

There were 40 participants from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, and among them 9 Grandmasters and 6 International Masters.

After nine rounds of play GM Sandro Mareco from Argentina qualified for the 2015 World Chess Cup in Baku as outright winner.

The second World Cup spot was to be decided between the four players who shared the second place with 6,5 points each. Chilean national champion IM Cristobal Henriquez Villagra won the rapid tie-break to book the ticket for Baku.
