Sergey Fedorchuk winner in Reykjavik

The Reykjavik Chess Club International took place from 1st to 8th October at the Reykjavik Chess Club on Iceland.

The tournament format was ten-player round robin. It is the Club’s hope that the event will be held every year.

Guests from Ukraine, Grandmasters Sergey Fedorchuk and Mikhailo Oleksienko, dominated the field to convincingly take the top two spots leaving the nearest followers full two points behind.

The winner was decided only in the last round when Oleksienko couldn’t break the resistance of IM Gudmundur Kjartansson. Meanwhile, Fedorchuk won to take a clear first place with 8,0/9 points.
