Shakhriyar Mamedyarov asks the arbiter if he can castle #TweetOftheDay

Champions Showdown Chess 9LX tournament kicked off today in Saint Louis. The battlefield of a super GM Fischer Random tournament includes Garry Kasparov, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alireza FirouzjaLevon AronianFabiano CaruanaLeinier DominguezHikaru NakamuraWesley SoShakhriyar Mamedyarov, and Peter Svidler. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov went against Hikaru Nakamura in the first round of the event, and he got an interesting position on the board. Just for the case, he checked with the arbiter if he can castle there. Arbiter confirmed and Hikaru was not happy about it. See the video below

Only two weeks ago, Mamedyarov had a huge problem with legal/illegal moves in the Saint Louis Chess Club. Shakh lost a game to Ian Nepomniachtchi after performing two illegal moves in one game! Now he decided it’s better to ask for the arbiter’s opinion :)
