The 2022 Sinquefield Cup, the final event of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour, kicks off tomorrow and takes place 1-13 September in Saint Louis, USA. The field is headlined by World Champion Magnus Carlsen, the number 1 junior Alireza Firouzja, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Levon Aronian, Leinier Dominguez, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Hans Neimann who is the last minute replacement for Richard Rapport.
The Opening Ceremony of the event will be held on September 1st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm CDT at World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park and will be open to the public. The ceremony also celebrates the 50th anniversary of Bobby Fischer’s victory over Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship with a one-of-a-kind musical performance curated by World Chess Hall of Fame’s Music Director Brian Owens.
