SPICE Cup Open 2012 with free entry

SPICE Cup Open 2012, October 16-20 in St. Louis

Susan Polgar and Webster University are organizing the 2012 edition of the SPICE Cup Open chess tournament. It will take place October 16-20 and for the first time it will have a free entry fee.

SPICE Cup Open will be held alongside the SPICE Cup Invitational tournament that is expected to be category 17-18. It will have a prize fund of $10,000 guaranteed ($4000 for the winner) and will be valid for IM/GM/WIM/WGM norms. The tournament is a 9 round Swiss with rate of play 90 minutes with a 30 second increment starting at move 1.

The event will be played at Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel 7730 Bonhomme Avenue St. Louis, MO 63105 (free shuttle from the Lambert – St. Louis International Airport). Limited free double occupancy accommodations available for GMs if registered by September 15, 2012.
