TCEC Season 8 – information and participants list

TCEC3The Top Computer Chess Championship TCEC Season 8 is scheduled to start this August 21st. The world’s best computer chess software engines will compete through four stages and a final to decide the 2015 TCEC Grand Champion.

Last season the TCEC, which was won by the Komodo engine, attracted hundreds of thousands unique viewers and hit major headlines. Now after a long wait the championship continues. It is sponsored by ChessArena.com and the major news partner will be Chessdom.com

This is the first preliminary list of participants. Komodo will be defending its title with a brand new powerful version, while the main challengers will be again the medalists from last seasons. There are a number of new and exciting engines in the list. More participants can be added or changes can be made until 24 hours before the start of the competition. There will be 22 + 2 engines competing. The final two spots will be decided by the audience in a poll on the official Facebook page of the competition

TCEC Season 8 software

The TCEC Season 8 will start on a 20 core Xeon server with 128 GB of RAM. The final stages will be played on a 40 cores server. Exact specifications will be posted in a separate post soon on Chessdom.

TCEC Season 8 will one more time will be administered by Martin Thoresen. Graphics will be created by Santiago Mendez and openings will be mastered by Nelson Hernandez.

All engine creators from this list and the possible reserves list will also be contacted this Monday with more specific information.
