Three title norms won in Kragujevac Tournaments

For the second year running the Central Serbia Chess Federation organized the round robin tournaments for the GM and IM norms. The tournaments were held from 17-23rd November in Hotel “Sumarice” in Kragujevac.

The Grandmaster event had 10 participants, while the IM event, dedicated to the memory of former CSCF President Milutin Karaklajic, had 6 participants.

The lineup was very attractive with young players from eight countries: India, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, BIH, Montenegro and host Serbia.

In the Grandmaster tournament the first place was shared by GMs Milos Pavlovic and Miodrag R Savic, and IM Nikola Nestorovic, with 6,5/9 points each. Pavlovic took the winner’s trophy on best tie-break.

Nestorovic also earned his third and final GM norm and now only has to reach 2500 elo in order to be awarded with the title.

In the same section the guest from India, the 14-years old Siva Mahadevan, finished fourth with 5,0 points to complete his second IM norm.

In the IM tournament the 15-years old talent Vuk Djordjevic took the first place with 6,5/10 points. He won his first IM norm.

The CSCF President Zoran Bojovic said: “We hope that this kind of tournaments, where the young players have chance to win international title norms, are becoming tradition for our federation.”

CSCF Deputy President Branislav Suhartovic shared that upon announcement of the tournaments he had “recieved dozens of application from the country and from abroad”. The reason were the very good conditions for participation where the players were not charged any entry fees.

The honorary moves were made by Dimitrije Karaklajic and “Sumarice” Director Milenko Marjanovic.

The arbiters were IA Milivoje Milivojevic, NA Zoran Novoselski (both SRB) and NA Zeljko Miljanic (MNE).
