Tikhookeanskiy Meridian 2016

Vladivostok in Russian Far East is currently holding a series of summer chess events. The festival opened with Tikhookeanskiy Meridian, 11-round Swiss rapid tournament with the time control 15 min + 10 sec.

Among 76 participants, Grandmasters Grigoriy Oparin, Dmitry Kokarev and Ivan Rozum shared the first place with 9,0/11 points each, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind. Oparin took the winner’s trophy on best tie-break.

The events following the rapid are “Primorskiy Debyut” with standard time control – a stage of the Russian Cup, Student’s Grand Prix at Far East Federal University with participants from Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Russia, and finally the stage of the Russian Youth Cup – “Ostrov Russkiy”.
