Topalov – Anand is the World Chess Championship 2009 final!

GM Veselin Topalov has won the Chess Challengers match in Sofia against GM Gata Kamsky. After 7 games Topalov achieved 4,5 points, which is enough to advance to the next phase.

This gives him the right to challenge Vishwanathan Anand for the World Chess Championship 2009 title. The match will take place this autumn, stay tuned with Chessdom.com for the latest details!

In the 2009 match Anand will defend his title against Veselin Topalov. This will be an attempt for 3rd consecutive World Chess Championship title. He won the 2007 Mexico city tournament and the match in Bonn against Kramnik.
