Wesley So: Hans Niemann disrespected everybody in the chess world

After comfortably drawing his Round 3 game against Jeffery Xiong with black pieces, Wesley So joined the live studio of the US Chess Championship to share his insights on the game. Wesley seemed satisfied with the result and explained that the game went pretty smoothly for him. Speaking about his yesterday’s loss against 15-year-old Christopher Yoo, So said that he is kind of used to losing to teenagers. “This is my eighth US Championship and I kind of expected the result because I always lose to teenagers. I am kind of used to losing to teenagers“, explained Wesley and smiled.

Being asked what are his thoughts about Yoo’s interview in which Christopher said that he felt disrespected on every level by Hans Niemann, Wesley answered that Hans disrespected everybody in the chess world: “He’s [Niemann] disrespected pretty much everybody in the chess world at this stage, calling other players idiots and stuff. And also beating the great Magnus. (…) Everybody knows that Hans is probably the most disrespectful teenager in chess.“. See the complete interview below
