Wesley So wins another Noel Skelton Open

The 3rd Annual Noel Skelton Open was held on 30-31st August (Labor Day Weekend) at the Crown Plaza Minneapolis West, in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Grandmaster Wesley So repeated the last year’s success to once again emerge clear winner of the top Premier section. Wesley won four games and conceded only one draw to stay half a point above the rest of the field and earn $1000 top prize.

A total of 118 players competed in three sections. The tournament format was 5-round Swiss.

Premier section final standings:
1. GM Wesley So MO 2781 – 4,5
2-5. IM John Bartholomew MN 2529, FM Sean Nagle MN 2525, FM Andrew Tang MN 2399 and FM Kevin Wasiluk MN 2307 – 4,0
6-10. GM Mauricio Flores TX 2561, Okechukwu Anele MN 2267, Samarth Chakrasali MN 2181, Connor Quinn MN 2083 and Andres Hortillosa MN 2003 – 3,5 etc
(46 players)

The Reserve section (U1800) had 55 participants. Thomas Quinn Brinkmann 1761, Nathan Ritter 1725 and James Joseph Foster 1695 shared the first place with 4,5/5 points each.

The Bantam section (U1200) had 17 players. Alex Musselman 947 is the sole winner with 4,5/5 points.
