Women World Team Chess Championship R9

As China already secured the victory in the Women World Team Chess Championship, the final round was set to determine the other medalists.

Russia made a quick match tie with Armenia, securing at least the bronze medal and hoping that India won’t beat China, in which case Russia takes the silver.

The match between China and India was indeed dramatic. Three games were drawn and Zhao Xue outplayed Tania Sachdev in complicated position on the third board. Thus Russia grabbed the silver medal.

Georgia defeated Turkey by 3-1 and leaped ahead to claim the team bronze. India slipped down to shared 4th place, together with Ukraine.

Greece crushed RSA 4-0 to finish 8th.
