World Amateur Chess Championships 2016

The World Amateur Chess Championships 2016 will be held from 18-28th April, 2016, in Halkidiki, Greece on the northern coast of the Aegean Sea.

The games will take place in the conference center of 5-star Anthemus Sea Resort on the Sithonia peninsula of Halkidiki, 95 km south Thessaloniki airport. Anthemus Sea is an excellent holiday destination, surrounded by a sandy beach on the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea.

The event will take place concurrently with the European Senior Team Chess Championship 2016.

The rating limit is increased to 2300 elo from earlier 2000 elo. In addition, instead of a single section, the Championship will for the first time be held in three sections: Under-2300, Under-2000 and Under-1700.

The total prize fund is 9000 EUR.
