2013 World Chess Cup in TromsoIn the classical games of the second round of the World Chess Cup 17 players have qualified for the next stage.

15 matches remained to be settled in rapid and blitz tie-breaks on Friday.

Top rated players Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Gata Kamsky, Sergey Karjakin and Peter Svidler completed the work after the first pair of rapid games.

Rapid specialist Aleksey Dreev beat Wang Hao in both games, while Yuriy Kryvoruchko (Ukraine) surprised the higher-rated Michael Adams.

Le Quang Liem sent Francisco Vallejo home and local star Jon Ludvig Hammer defeated the top Czech player David Navara.

In the longest matches of the day Teimour Radjabov beat Lazaro Bruzon 4-2 and 17-years old Russian Daniil Dubov eliminated the former World Champion Ruslan Ponomariov after the Armageddon game.
