Estonian Sports Association Kalev organizes the XXIV international „Paul Keres Memorial” in Rapid Chess on 9-11th January 2015 at the Sokos Hotel Viru, in Tallinn, the capital and largest city of Estonia.
The chess festival is held in two stages and in addition will be held the blitz tournament.
THE PRELIMINARY TOURNAMENT will be a 7-round Rapid open with time control 15′ + 5″ and it’s a part of the yearly series of rapid chess events organized by the The Estonian Chess Support Organization.
THE MAIN TOURNAMENT will be a 10-player round-robin rapid event with tempo of play 15′ +10″.
5 participants, including at least 2 from Estonia, will gain the entrance from the preliminary tournament, while GM Igor Kovalenko LAT 2728, GM Sergei Tiviakov NED 2595, GM Alexander Khalifman RUS 2588, GM Kaido Kulaots EST 2498 and GM Meelis Kanep EST 2494 will be personally invited.
THE BLITZ TOURNAMENT will be a Swiss system 11-round blitz with time control 3′ + 2″.
The prize fund will be awarded as follows:
– Main Tournament – 800 €/ 550 €/ 400 €/ 300 €/ 200 €
– Preliminary Tournament – 250 €/ 200 €/ 150 €/ 100 €/ 100 € plus special prizes in the amount of 100 € for the best female player, senior player (born 1955 or earlier) and young player (born 1997 or later)
– Blitz Tournament – 100 €/ 70 €/ 40 €/ 20 €/ 20 €
