Grandmaster Yannick Pelletier convincingly won the Swiss Open Chess Championship that was held from 13-21st July in Grächen. Pelletier scored 7,5/9 points leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.
This is Pelletier sixth national title, as he previously won in 1995, 2000, 2002, 2010 and 2014.
Silver went to the 61-year-old IM Roland Ekström and bronze to the 15-year-old FM Fabian Bänziger. Fabian Bänziger also became Swiss Junior Champion and scored his first IM norm.
The top three are directly qualified for the closed ten-player men’s title tournament in Lenzerheide.
The women’s title is claimed by the 17-years old WFM Lena Georgescu. The second-placed WFM Camille De Seroux achieved her third WIM norm. WFM Laura Stoeri took the bronze.
Benjamin Huss is the senior champion of Switzerland.
