Yuniesky Quesada Perez wins Philadelphia Open on tie-break

The 9th Annual Philadelphia Open was held over the Easter weekend from April 1-5, 2014, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Cuban Grandmaster Yuniesky Quesada Perez took the winner’s trophy and bonus prize after edging Ioan Cristian Chirila of Romania on tie-break. The two players finished on 7,0/9 points each.

The Open section had 105 participants. The organizers observed the FIDE rules and the event was valid for FIDE norms: Akshat Chandra earned a GM norm, while Eric Rosen, Qibiao Wang, Awonder Liang and Igor Sorkin earned IM norms.
