GM Amin and WGM Wafa winners of African Zone 4.2

egypt-flagThe 2014 edition of African Zone 4.2 Open tournament and African Zone 4.2 Women’s tournament were organized by the Egyptian Chess Federation on 22-29th November 2014 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Middle East.

The Open Section was a 9-round Swiss tournament, won by GM Bassem Amin (Egypt) on 8.5 points, drawing only against the runner-up on the fourth round of the competition.

The second placed IM Mohamed Ezat (Egypt) collected 7.5/9, leaving the nearest follower IM Walaa Sarwat (Egypt) full point behind.

WGM Shrook Wasa (Egypt) topped the Women Section with 6.5 points in an 8-player round-robin battle for the gold. WIM Shahenda Wafa (Egypt) remained second on 6/7 points, while Enas Mohamed (Egypt) took the bronze on 4.5/7 points.
