Ikaros Chess Festival 2009

Aegean Open Championship will be the main event

The preparations of Ikaros Chess Festival 2009, the traditional chess event that takes place every summer in the beautiful Ikaria island in Greece, are under way! This will be the 32nd edition of the tournament, played again at the island of Ikaria - an excellent place to combine chess with vacations and enjoy the Greek summer in a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere.
The main event of the festival, the International Aegean Open Championship takes place from 11th till 19th of July 2009. It is a 9 round swiss event with prize fund 3600 Euros in total (1st prize 1000 Euros, special money prizes for ladies and veterans). Special conditions for GMs/IMs and WGMs/WIMs are provided by the organizers, as well as discounts for juniors, families, and club teams.
