The 11th Annual Manhattan Open will be held from August 17-19, 2012, at the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Ave at 34th St. across from Penn Station, New York, NY.
The event has a $35,000 prize fund, unconditionally guaranteed.
The event has 10 sections: Open, Under 2300, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300, Under 1100, Under 900 and Under 700. All sections are 6 round Swiss tournaments with 3-day and 2-day schedules to play in, except the Under 900 and Under 700 sections which have only a 2-day schedule.
Open Section: $2500-1500-1000-700-500-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, top U2500/Unr $1200.
Under 2300 Section: $1500-1000-700-500-400-300.
Under 2100 Section: $1500-1000-700-500-400-300.
Under 1900 Section: $1500-1000-700-500-400-300. Unrated limit $1000.
Under 1700 Section: $1500-1000-700-500-400-300. Unrated limit $800.
Under 1500 Section: $1200-800-600-500-400-300. Unrated limit $600.
Under 1300 Section: $1200-800-600-500-400-300. Unrated limit $400.
Under 1100 Section: $700-400-300-200-100-100. Unrated limit $200.
Under 900 Section: Trophies to first 10, top Unrated.
Under 700 Section: Trophies to first 10, top Under 500, Under 300, Unrated.
Entry fees range from 33 to 180 USD.
Last year joint winners were IM Vladimir Romanenko (with final GM norm) and GM Alex Shabalov.
