The 2nd Azores International Chess Open 2015 is set to take place from 25th to 29th March, 2015, at the Hotel Gaviota**** (near the marina), in Pavilhão do Mar – Ponta Delgada, the largest municipality and administrative capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Portugal.
The tournament is promoted by the Portugal Chess Academy with Azores Chess Association and supported by Associação Portas do Mar.
The event is a 7-round Swiss tournament, open to all players registered in FPX/FIDE, with tempo of play 90′ + 30″.
The main prizes will be given as follows: 400 €/ 330 €/ 250 €/ 225 €/ 200 €/ 180 €/ 160 €/ 140 €/ 135 €/ 130 €.
Gap Rating: 2100-2299: 110 €/ 60 €; 1900-2099: 110 €/ 60 €; 1700-1899: 110 €/ 60 €; 1500-1699: 110 €/ 60 €; 0-1499: 110 €/ 60 €.
