49th India National Premier Chess Championship

The 49th India National Premier Chess Championship is taking place from 9th to 21st October at the MIT Engineering College in Aurangabad.

49 players including 18 Grandmasters and 21 International Masters are competing in the 13-rounds Swiss event. This tournament is organised by Marathwada Chess Association.

GM S P Sethuraman has taken the sole lead having won all games in the first four rounds. GM Abhijeet Gupta, former World Junior Champion and winner of the prestigious 2011 Dubai Open, is clear second with 3.5 points.

The defending champion GM Negi Parimarjan is experiencing a slow start, and after the loss against former Asian Junior Champion IM Ashwin Jayaram, stays in the middle of the crosstable with 2.0 points. Full standings bellow.
