The 79th edition of Georgian Women’s National Chess Championship took place from 6-15 June in the Georgian Chess Palace in Tbilisi. The event was played as a 10-player round robin tournament, gathering one Grandmaster, five International Masters, one Woman International Master, and two Woman FIDE Masters.
GM Nino Batsiashvili won the event with impressive 8/9 points. She lost the first round against second-placed IM Salome Melia, and scored eight consecutive victories to emerge as the sole leader of the event. IM Salome Melia was in the race for the first place until the last round, but after a draw with IM Meri Arabidze claimed silver with 7.5 points. IM Lela Javakhishvili won bronze with 7 points.
