GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov and GM Nodirbek Yakubboev qualify for the World Chess Cup 2021

FIDE 3.4 Zonal Chess Championship concluded today in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The event took place from 6-15 May, with 34 players from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

After 9 rounds played in Swiss system, two chess prodigies qualified for the upcoming FIDE World Chess Cup 2021: GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov and GM Nodirbek Yakubboev.

17 year old GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov convincingly won the event scoring 8/9 points. GM Nodirbek Yakubboev and GM Petr Kostenko tied for the second place. Thanks to better tiebreaks 19 year old Yakubboev secured the other spot in the World Cup, and Kostenko came third.
