Herbert Bastian re-elected President of German Chess Federation

Herbert BastianThe German Chess Federation (Deutscher Schachbund e.V.) held its Federal Congress on 16th May in Halberstadt.

In the election for the post of President of the federation there were two candidates: the incumbent Herbert Bastian and his Vice-President for Sport Joachim Gries.

After two rounds of voting Bastian won the election with 109 votes against Gries’ 76. There were also 29 abstentions and 2 invalid ballots.

Elected as Vice-Presidents of the federation are Klaus Deventer, Ralf Chadt-Rausch and Uwe Pfenning.

Herbert Bastian is also FIDE Vice-President.
