Nakhchivan Open 2012 – Round Six

The International Chess Festival Nakhchivan Open 2012, dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev, is taking place from 28th to 6th May at the Chess Center in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan.

The Festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Youth & Sport Ministry, Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Nakhchivan AR Chess Federation and SOCAR.

GM Viorel Iordachescu from Moldova maintains the lead which he assumed after the third round and is still half a point ahead of the chasing pack.

In round six most of the top games were drawn, except that the top seeded GM Boris Grachev defeated GM Sergey Volkov with black pieces. Grachev moved ahead to the shared 2nd place.
