The elite of chess collects in one of the strongest events of the year
You want to see 293 titled players with 147 GMs headed by Carlsen, Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Radjabov, Mamedyarov, Shirov, Svidler, Aronian, Adams, Grischuk, Kamsky, Karjakin, Gelfand, Ponomariov, Movsesian, and Gashimov? You’ve got it! This is exactly the start of the players list for the European Chess Club Cup in Kallithea, Greece. A total of 600 players from more than 50 nations divided into a record number of teams participate in the men section of the event.
The women section is impressive as well – 7 GMs and 100+ titled players headed by Koneru Humpy, Xie Jun, Yifan Hou, Antoaneta Stefanova, Pia Cramling, Zhao Xue, T. Kosintseva, Cmylite, Lahno, Muzychuk, Danielian, Zhukova, Hoang Thanh Trang, Elizabeth Paehtz, Anna Ushenina, Monika Socko, Anna Zatonskih, etc.
The players lists are still to be completed, but surely a true chess party is on the way. Our good friend Hans Arild Runde will have serious work monitoring 21 players over 2700!
