Oliwia Kiolbasa is the Gukesh of the Women’s Chess Olympiad

As MrDodgy (aka ChessProblem) would put it, D Gukesh is the Alireza of the Chess Olympiad 2022. Having collected 8,0/8, Gukesh is now the second strongest Indian player and has officially entered the world top 20 with live rating 2729 ELO. Read about D Gukesh scoring 8,0/8 here

An equally great feat is going on in Chennai. To put it MrDodgy’s way, Oliwia Kiolbasa is the Gukesh of the Women Section of the Chess Olympiad 2022. With her win against India 3, Kiolbasa is now rocking the perfect 8,0/8.

Both Gukesh and Kiolbasa follow the footsteps of their great predecessors. Gukesh in the footsteps of Paul Keres, who won gold with the Soviet Union team and scored 13½/14 on board 4 in ’54. Kiolbasa chasing the performance of Judit Polgar 12.5/13 in the ’92 Olympiad.
