Vaishali: I was very excited about my first Grand Prix tournament

FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Astana 2022 kicked off today in Kazakhstan. The first round finished with two decisive games with Aleksandra Goryachkina and Elisabeth Paehtz taking the early lead in the event.

IM Vaishali R, who replaced Koneru Humpy for the first FIDE Women’s Grand Prix event in the 2022-2023 series, drew her first-round game against Kateryna Lagno. In the post-game interview, Vaishali revealed she arrived late for the event’s Opening ceremony and that she was very excited about her fist Grand Prix tournament. See the video below
