The US Chess Championship 2022 is taking place from 5-20 October at the Saint Louis Chess Club. Fourteen of the country’s strongest chess players battle for the national title and $60,000 in a classical round-robin event with Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian and Wesley So headlining the field which includes Hans Niemann as the 8th seed.
15-year-old Christopher Yoo is one of the leaders of the tournament after three played rounds as he scored two consecutive victories after a bad start. Yoo yesterday joined the US Championship live studio clarifying his words on Hans Niemann and revealed that the whole controversy and chess drama distracted him from game preparation.
