Anton Kovalyov and Andrey Baryshpolets share first in Southwest Class Championships

The 9th Southwest Class Championships were held from February 15-19, 2018, at the DFW Airport Marriott South, 4151 Centreport Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

The event featured seven rating sections, including the 9-round Swiss Master which was FIDE rated and eligible for title norms.

The Master section gathered 81 players. Grandmasters Anton Kovalyov (Canada) and GM Andrey Baryshpolets (Ukraine) shared the first place with 7 points each. Kovalyov grabbed the trophy and winner’s bonus due to better tie-break.

Class A (1800-1999/Unr): $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Class B (1600-1799/Unr): $2000-1000-500-300-200.
Class C (1400-1599/Unr): $1700-900-500-300-200.
Class D (1200-1399/Unr): $800-400-300-200-100.
Class E (Under 1200/Unr): $800-400-300-200-100.
