FIDE rating list May 2025 published – movers and shakers

The FIDE rating list for May 2025 is now officially published. Check out the newest at the links below:

Top 100 May

The real star of the month of April was Vasyl Ivanchuk. In Reykjavik Open he scored 7,0/9 (five wins, four draws), in Semana Santa he won the bronze with 7,5/9 (six wins, three draws) and in Menorca Open he won the gold with 8,0/9. With this Ivanchuk climbed back in the top 100 and is currently 82nd with 2644.

Still only two players remain above 2800 – Carlsen and Nakamura – and both were inactive in May. Parham Maghsoodloo not only reentered the 2700 club, but also got a ticket to Las Vegas

Top 100 women

What a month for Ju Wenjun! She won her 5th World Championship adding 19,1 ELO and reaching 2580, chasing the first position of Yifan Hou. Then without a long break she visited Hong Kong spreading the joy of chess and played a promo match with Ediz Gurel.

And what a month for Teodora Injac! She added 18,6 ELO by becoming European Women Individual Chess Champion

But one of the biggest movers in the May FIDE rating list is Yuxin Song. She added 26 ELO from Reykjavik and Menorca, bringing her ELO above 2400.

Among the shakers – Stefanova and Wagner lost 30+ ELO points and will be looking for a recovery in the next months.

Top 100 girls

In the top 100 girls list, Yelyzaveta Hrebenshchykova stunned the pundits by adding 57 ELO and reaching 2353, entering the top 10 of the girls list. Yelyzaveta Hrebenshchykova gained all her ELO at Grenke Open. At the same tournament Xeniya Balabayeva added 18 ELO and enters the top 20 of the girls list.

Top 100 juniors

The top 100 juniors list continues to be headed by the World Champion Gukesh D himself. 14 players remain above 2600 ELO
