Grandmasters Mitkov and Amanov share first place in Illinois Open

The 2013 Illinois Open took place from 31st August to 2nd September at the DoubleTree Hotel, 1909 Spring Road, Oak Brook, Illinois.

The tournament was held in two sections – Open and Reserve (U1800), in two playing schedules. Both sections were played over six rounds of Swiss system.

The Open section had 66 participants. Grandmasters Nikola Mitkov and Mesgen Amanov shared the first place with 5,0/6 points each.

The Reserve section had 72 players competing. Aaron Maney is the clear winner with 5,5/6 points. Maney earned 700 USD prize and 100 uscf points.

The prize fund was projected to $7000 based on 150 paid entries.

$700 – $490 – $350; U1600 $280 – $210; U1400 $210- $140; U1200 $140 – $70
