IM Paravyan wins 6th Margaryan Memorial

ParavyanThe 6th Andranik Margaryan Memorial was organized by the Chess Academy of Armenia from 8th to 16th January, 2016, in Armenian capital Yerevan.

The event was a 10-player single round-robin tournament, valid for GM norms.

The 18-year-old Russian player IM David Paravyan emerged a convincing winner with 6.5/9 points. He finished 1.5 points ahead of the nearest followers and fulfilled a GM norm.

The second place was shared in a three-way tie by IM Maksim Chigaev (Russia), FM Haik Martirosyan (Armenia) and GM Olexandr Bortnyk (Ukraine), after the whole group finished the event with 5 points.
