London Candidates 2013, pairings

The pairings of Candidates 2013 have been announced by the organizers of AGON and FIDE.

The drawing of lots assigned the following numbers to the participants: 1. Levon Aronian 2. Boris Gelfand 3. Vassily Ivanchuk 4. Peter Svidler 5. Vladimir Kramnik 6. Alexander Grischuk 7. Teimour Radjabov and 8. Magnus Carlsen.

Therefore, in round 1 of the London Candidates 2013 the chess fans will see:
Aronian – Carlsen, Gelfand – Radjabov, Ivanchuk – Grischuk, and Svidler – Kramnik.

The London Candidates is a double round robin, see the schedule here. The total prize fund is 510 000 eur and the winner becomes the Challenger of the World Champion Viswanathan Anand for the world crown in a direct match this November.
