The Vugar Gashimov Memorial 2022 took place from 18-23 December in Baku. It was a 10-player super-tournament consisting of Rapid and Blitz stages and the final standings were determined according to the sum of points of Rapid and Blitz events.
Defending FIDE World Rapid Chess Champion Nodirbek Abdusattorov won the tournament just a few days before the start of the 2022 World Rapid and Blitz. The 18-year-old scored 25.5 points and won the event with five blitz rounds to spare! Rauf Mamedov won silver and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov came third. Scroll down for final rankings
