SM-gruppen 2013 in Sweden

The SM-gruppen 2013 chess tournament is being played on 6th-14th July in Orebro, Sweden.

The event mixes strong grandmasters with young talented Swedish players in order to promote chess in this country. It is a 10-players single round-robin with a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, plus 30 minutes to finish the game and 30 seconds increments per move.

Prizes are to be distributed as follows: 1st – 25.000 kr (approx. 4.000 USD); 2nd – 21.000 kr; 3rd – 17.000 kr; 4th – 13.000 kr, etc.

First seed Nils Grandelius is leading the event after 3 rounds. He is on 2.5/3, and is half a point above his compatriot Hans Tikkanen and Luxembourger Michael Wiedenkeller.
