Stoichkov claims the World Art Cup 2014

The World Art Cup 2014 was hosted in Paris for the 8th consecutive year. The traditional festival gathered people of art from all around the world.

The event was organized by Mr. Tardits and took place at the L’Orchidee du Cheval Blanc in the French capital. It is traditionally open to all chess players in the sphere of art.

The Bulgarian player Simeon Stoichkov emerged a clear winner with 8.5/9 points, leaving the runner-up Maria Manelidou (Greece) half a point behind. Thus, Stoichkov (not the football legend, part of Johan Cruyff’s Barcelona, but the chess player), became World Art Cup’s champion for second time, after winning the event in 2012.

Maria Manelidou remained second with 8/9 points, while IM Allen Villeneuve (France), who participated under the artistic pseudonym “Spartacus”, took the bronze with 6/9 points, sharing the third place with Laurent Deborde, Philippe Daoud and Fabrice Burdese.

Special thanks to Mr. Simeon Stoichkov for the information and photo report.
