The story behind Ding Liren’s white hoodie #TweetOftheDay

The World Chess Championship 2023 match between Nepo and Ding is subject to serious criticism from the chess fans. They would like to see the two challengers more often at the chess board, but instead the audience is left with two chairs and a chess board. (see here how the chairs were chosen)

The truth is that players find certain comfort in the resting area. They are also away from the massive photos that stare at them all the time in the playing zone. An appeal to all the chess community: some empathy and understanding are needed.

One of the iconic images of the match is Ding Liren sitting in his white hoodie in the player’s lounge. But why exactly the white hoodie? Keti Tsatsalashvili bring the answer from the playing hall.
