World Junior Chess Championships 2013FIDE World Junior Chess Championships 2013 for boys & girls under 20 are taking place in Kocaeli, Turkey, from 12th to 27th September 2013.

In the Open section top-seeded GM Yu Yangyi of China was held to a draw by the former World U20 bronze medalist GM Sahaj Grover of India.

The defending champion Alexander Ipatov (Turkey) took advantage of such development to seize the top position after beating GM Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (India).

Ipatov is now clear first with 8,0/9 points, followed by Yangyi on 7,5 points. Peruvian hope GM Jorge Cori emerged on third place after defeating Iranian IM Idani Pouya.

In the Girls section Irina Bulmaga (Romania) defeated the top-seeded Alina Kashlinskaya (Russia) to remain sole leader with 7,5/9 points.

She is closely followed by Russian prodigy Alexandra Goryachkina who was successful against Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan).

Kashlinskaya, former champion Deysi Cori, Meri Arabidze (Georgia) and Padmini Rout (India) remain in contention for the medals with 6,5 points each.
