GM Carlos Daniel Albornoz Cabrera wins FIDE Zonal 2.3 Championship

The FIDE Zonal 2.3 Chess Championship 2022 took place from 25-30 March in the city of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. The event attracted 65 entries from 13 countries who played a 9 rounds swiss tournament.

GM Carlos Daniel Albornoz Cabrera won the event and qualified for the next FIDE World Cup. He scored unbeaten 7.5 points to be a half-point ahead of IM Roberto Carlos Sanchez Alvarez who had 7 points and clinched silver. GM Isan Reynaldo Ortiz Suarez was third with 6.5 points.
