Saint Louis rapid and blitz 2022

The sixth annual Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz 2022 is also the fourth leg of the Grand Chess Tour. Eight tour players Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana, Alireza Firouzja, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Leinier Dominguez, Richard Rapport, and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov are joined by wildcards Hikaru Nakamura and Sam Shankland for a rapid round robin and blitz. Only Aronian (2017 and 2019) and Nakamura (2018 and 2021) have managed to win the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz. The event will be followed by the prestigious Sinquefield Cup 2022

Since 2017, the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz has been an integral component of the Grand Chess Tour. This year’s tournament is poised to once again deliver the same standards of competition and a tournament location full of grandeur that chess fans have come to know and love. This will be the last rapid and blitz tournament of the tour and the fast-paced rapid and blitz structure is sure to provide a dynamic display of talent and skill, all vying for a piece of the $175,000 prize fund.
